Mark Soucy Obituary

Mark Roland Soucy, age 71, devoted husband of the late Jeannette M. (Bernier) Soucy, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, MA, following a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Born on Thursday, January 1, 1953, in New Bedford, MA, Mark was the son of the late Leo and Rita Soucy. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, Mark graduated from St. Anthony’s Catholic High School. He worked his entire career in the textiles industry, first as a purchasing manager for Cliftex, and then as a textile converter with Kaplan up until his retirement. A communicant of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in New Bedford, Mark enjoyed coin collecting, playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons John Shaffer and his wife Tracy, and Brian, seven grandchildren Jessica, Paige, Montana, Steven, Randall, Derek, and Christian, and six great grandchildren. Services for Mark will be held at a future date.
