Music by The Piano Brothers

Frances K. Ramsden, 88, beloved wife of the late George H. Ramsden, Jr. passed away on September 4th in Brockton, MA, after a courageous battle with heart disease.

She was born on November 30, 1925 in Terryville, CT, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude Kamens. She graduated from Terryville High School, and went on to study voice at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT. A gifted soprano, she enjoyed singing in church choirs throughout her life. She was an opera chorus member in Hartford, a soloist for weddings and sang in a trio at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brockton for many years.

In her early career she was a policy writer for Aetna Fire and Marine Division in Hartford, CT. It was there that she met her beloved husband of 27 years, the late George H. Ramsden, Jr. The couple moved to Brockton, MA, where they raised four children together. Once her children were grown, Frances worked as a salesperson in the Menswear Department at Sears & Roebuck in Brockton, MA for 17 years.

In addition to music, Frances enjoyed many other hobbies, most notably gardening, reading and knitting. She was deeply devoted to her family. She is survived by a younger brother, Walter Kamens; daughters Kathy Donahue, Susan Hewitt, and Robin Picher; son David Ramsden; sons-in-law Stephen Donahue, Andrew Hewitt and Mark Picher; and daughter-in-law Laura Ramsden. Frances found much enjoyment in her 12 wonderful grandchildren and step-grandchildren. She is also survived by several dear nieces and nephews throughout the country and many cousins. She is pre-deceased by two older brothers, Henry and Charles Kamens, and a grandson, John Ramsden.
