David W. Anderson, 77, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10th, 2016 at BIDMC in Plymouth following a lengthy illness.  He was beloved by his children, grandchildren, and all his friends who knew him.  He was married to the late Helen P. (Meagher) Anderson for over 48 years until her passing in 2007.

David was born in Brockton, the son of the late Henry R. Anderson and Lucile Rebecca Garfield. He was educated in Brockton schools before being hired as a cashier at Elm Farm Foods, where he met his future wife.

A machinist by trade, David worked as a foreman for the Brockton Machine Company for over thirty-five years.  After they closed, he went on to work at H&W Mold in West Bridgewater for an additional two years before retiring.

David was gifted in woodworking; he took pride in the fact that he built his kitchen and his own boat by hand, amongst many other projects over the years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, canoeing, and traveling around New England, especially Northern Maine, the Cape Cod Canal, and Plymouth, as well as local casinos.  He especially enjoyed the ocean, playing the lottery, and visiting fairs and festivals with his wife. He was an active member of the Vega Club in Brockton and had been a member there for over 50 years and also served in the Army National Guard.

David is survived by two daughters, Joyce Vieira, and her husband Scott, and Cheryl Lynne Anderson, as well as four grandchildren, David McRae Jr., Ashley McRae, Alyssa McRae, and Amanda Vieira, all of Taunton.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and brothers & sisters-in-law.  David was pre-deceased by his parents and wife, as well as his son, Raymond A. Anderson, and his brother, Frederic R. Anderson.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5-8 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater, MA
