John R. O’Brien, 77, died unexpectedly May 6, 2017 at Boston Medical Center. He was the husband the late Sharon L. Moore-O’Brien.

Born in Roslindale, MA he was the son of the late Reginald and Doris (Hardy) O’Brien.

John was a graduate of Roslindale High School and earned his Bachelors Degree from Northeastern University.  He was a long time resident of Roslindale and has lived in Brockton for the past 20 years. John was a retired Bank Examiner for the U.S. Government and was an avid New England Sports fan and had a strong interest in politics.

He is survived by his beloved four legged son Logan; a sister Kathleen O’Brien; 2 step-children Robert Moore and Tammie Moore; 2 step-grandchildren Christine Moore-Berube and Kyle Moore and a step-great-grandchild Georgia Berube.  He was also the brother of the late Margaret (O’Brien) Ricci.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5-7 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 9:00 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton, MA.

John, my former work colleague with the OCC. I'm sorry I missed the news of your passing. I'm thankful that I had the chance to meet and work with you. You were professional with the right personal touch and a person of integrity. I'll cherish the memories and may peace be with you.
