George “Hoppy” E. Hopkins Jr., 81 of Lakeville, MA, passed away on July 19, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Born April, 26 1938 in Providence, RI. He was the son of the late George E. Hopkins Sr. and Ann Marie (Belanger) Hopkins Moohr.           

Hoppy worked for the Town of Lakeville for many years. He was a call firefighter for the Lakeville Fire Department, worked at the Highway Department, and finally the Parks Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the American Legion for many years. Hoppy loved to bowl, play horseshoes and cribbage. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed watching Westerns.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Lorraine (Nelson) Hopkins, his five children, Deborah and her husband Dr. John Lombardi of Corona, CA, Daniel and his wife Terry Hopkins of Lakeville, Dennis and his wife Cindy Hopkins of Acushnet, David Hopkins of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Donna-Jean and her husband Dave Goodfellow of Lakeville, his  nine grandchildren, Kayte and her husband Mike Straser, Lizi Lombardi, Brandon, Nick, Kelsey, Kayla, and Lindsey Hopkins, Ethan and Becky Goodfellow, his great-granddaughter, Anaston Straser, his sister, Carole Balent of Taylors, SC and many other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Grosso, and brothers, Leo, Bill, Bob, and Ken Hopkins. 

Memorial Visitation will be held at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral home in Lakeville on August 9, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Burial Service will be held at Sampson Cemetery in Lakeville on August 10, 2019 at 10:00 am.
