Lyle W. Strode passed into eternity peacefully on April 17, 2020 at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home in Middleboro, Massachusetts at the age of 84 due to complications from progressive supranuclear palsy.

Born in Fairbury, Illinois on May 30, 1935 to Ollie Graydon Strode and Grace Strode of Kentucky, Lyle was raised on a rural Midwestern farm where he learned early what it meant to work hard alongside his five siblings. After high school, he played AA baseball throughout Illinois and some time at Joliet Junior College. It was then that he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, serving as a sonar man for four years. His time in the service took him far from the small town life he was so familiar with.

Upon returning from his military service, Lyle began his entry into the electronic manufacturing field with Philips Control. Stepping into the world of electrical engineering led him to start several successful manufacturing representative businesses, settling initially in Scituate and ultimately Lakeville, Massachusetts. Lyle took great pride in being an entrepreneur and sharing his success with employees.

Lyle had a passion for family and friends and was a devoted husband to Dona Strode for 32 years. He volunteered with Lakeville Council on Aging and for years as a youth hockey and baseball coach. He enjoyed fishing, golf, skiing, gardening, and watching the Boston Bruins. The thrill of fishing was passed onto his son and grandson, with several memorable excursions into the pristine and deep woods of Maine.

Lyle would want to share that his most important decision was at the age of 79 when he placed his faith in his Lord and savior Jesus Christ and was baptized. This gave him great courage to face the future, as he also gave of his time and resources to others as a means of gratitude for the grace extended to him by his savior.

Lyle is survived by his wife Dona of Lakeville; son Lindsay Strode (wife Meg); granddaughter Juliana Sass (husband Byron) and their two children; grandson Christian Strode; granddaughter Kailey Strode; son Eric Strode and his children; stepsons Chuck Lerch (wife Rachel); Mike Lerch (wife Antonina) and step-grandchildren Caroline, Cassandra, Anna, and Ellie.

All services are private, with interment taking place at Sampson Cemetery in Lakeville.

We look forward to a time there will be no more tears, and sorrows will be turned to rejoicing, when we meet again in Glory.
