The family of Anne Julieanne Bois is sad to announce the passing of our much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed peacefully at the Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleboro, MA on July 26, 2020 at the age of 93.
Born on the family farm on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia to Roderick and Catherine Gillis on June 20, 1927, Anne was the last surviving of 16 siblings. It is “truly the end of an era” as one niece so aptly stated. Anne married Franklin LeRoy Bois on July 31, 1949 and they raised three sons (David, Steven and James) at their home in Middleboro MA. Our mom had her hands full keeping track of three spirited boys.
Anne had a natural mechanical aptitude and was always doing projects around the house and yard. Her projects ran the full spectrum from applying indoor/outdoor carpeting onto the patio, modifying furniture to fit her needs or patching the roof when it leaked. She became our Dad’s hands for electrical, plumbing and carpentry work after he was impaired by a series of strokes. She loved the big water and the beach and told many stories about the beach “down home” in Cape Breton. If she wasn’t working on a house project, it was a good bet that she was at the beach in Plymouth or Onset. Her love of the water and “get it done” attitude rubbed off on us boys.
Anne was predeceased by her husband Franklin in 1994, her son James in 2013 and most recently her son Steven in April 2020. Anne is survived by her son David and his wife Nancy Bois of Blaine MN, daughter-in-law Cheryl Bois of Lakeville MA, grandchildren: Emily Bois of Modesto, CA, Holly (Nathan) Bruckelmyer of Carver, MN, Michelle (Bois) Reed of Berkley, MA, Michael Bois of Taunton, MA, Brandi (Thomas) King-Parker of Pinellas Park, FL and James Bois of Venice, FL, 17 great-grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts Martha & Mary's Parish in Lakeville on August 28th at 10:00 am.
