Eva R. Morais, 84, of Fairhaven, MA passed away suddenly September 18, 2020 due to a serious heart condition at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.  She was the loving wife of George G. Morais.

Eva was born July 18, 1936 in New Bedford, MA and was the daughter of the late Manuel and Rose Monteiro.  She was a native of New Bedford and was currently residing with her husband in Fairhaven, MA

Eva had a passion for dance.  She was a talented contortionist in her early years and also performed and taught ballet, tap, and jazz for over 50 years.  She began her career at Yvonne Green’s Dance Studio in New Bedford and was a member of the Rhyhmettes – a tap dancing group that performed together throughout the area and also New York City. Eva later opened her own school, Morais Dance Studio, with locations in both Assonet and Somerset, MA.  She was a Member of the National Honor Society throughout her academic experience where she graduated at the top of her class from Fairhaven High School in 1954.  Other jobs throughout her life included: Medical Secretary for Dr. Barry Lang of New Bedford, Head Office Administrator for the Massachusetts Office of Elders Affairs, and Office Administrator for the New Bedford Police Department.

Eva enjoyed cooking and shopping but dancing was Eva’s heartbeat, that is what she was doing when she met her husband, the love of her life, at Lincoln Park Ballroom in Dartmouth, MA.  Eva was 18 years old and she danced her way into his heart. They married 3 years later in 1957 and started the family that she dearly loved.

In addition to her husband Eva was the Mother of: Sharon Kaminski (deceased), Diane Nanfelt and Mike Morais; grandmother of: Mark and Kara Kaminski, Zack, Troy and Tatum Nanfelt, Hayley and Camryn Morais and Great Grandmother of: Kade and Kaine Kamiski

She will be loved and remembered by her family and friends always.

Memorial visitation will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 5-7 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville, MA  02347.

George and family,

My sincere sympathy to you on the loss of your wife and mother. I remember Eva always smiling and laughing. It was a long time ago that we got together but we always had fun. I lost Janet almost 4 years ago so I know how much you must be hurting. With my sincere regards, Dick Holt

Dear George, Diane, Michael, Virgie and families, We want to offer you our sincere condolences on the passing of Eva. I met Eva when I was 10 years old. We danced together, cheered at Normandin, camped together, literally grew up together. I'm sure she will be sorely missed. It was always a fun time when Eva was present. We married the same year, and started our families the same year. We even became snowbirds in Florida for many years. I have many good memories and I know you all do, too. May they help you through this difficult time. She would not want you to grieve too long. Enjoy life - she did.
A former Rhythmette, Phyllis and husband, Jack Sheerin

Dear George, Diane, Michael and additional family,

I am so saddened to hear of Mrs. Morais' passing. She was an amazing person and a very large part of my life (most of my childhood). I wish you all happy memories and strength as you mourn your loss.

I have a very monumental memory of Mrs. Morais. She was going to tap dance on stage with Diane. I was back stage, just coming off or waiting to go on, and asked her if she was nervous. She said yes she was. She then said to me, "The day you are no longer nervous is the day you should stop dancing because then it is not important to you." I live by that often.

Much Love and Warm thought,
Julie Boren (Bebo)
