Richard D. “Dick” Johnson, 92, of Halifax, MA passed away peacefully on October 29, 2020.  He was the beloved husband of Margaret F. “Peggy” (Staples) Johnson.

Born March 29, 1928 in Brockton he was the son of the late James P and Jennie (Braley) Johnson.

Dick was a graduate of Brockton High School and attended the Boston Conservatory of Music.  He served in the U.S. Army and has been a resident of Halifax for 45 years. He had his own band and played at Halifax Country Club, taught music in the Foxboro School system, owned and operated Dick Johnson Music in Brockton and started the Brockton Youth Stage Band.  Dick enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, golfing, skiing, camping, traveling and partying.

In addition to his wife Margaret “Peggy” he is survived by his children Richard C. Johnson and his wife Joan of Carver and Sandra L. (Johnson) Bissett and her husband James of Middleboro; 4 grandchildren Richard J. Johnson, Jr., Amanda Rogers and her husband James, Christopher Darcy and his wife Megan and Daniel Darcy; 3 Great-Grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.  He was also survived by his step-daughter Bonnie Paiva; 4 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great great grandchildren and his dog Sam.

Visitation will take place on November 3, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 12 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St. Lakeville, MA.  Dick’s burial will be private.

Meeting Dick Johnson was like a fork in the road for me. My whole life took a different turn, and I never looked back. There is nothing like a good, caring teacher. I will never forget him.

I am so sad to here of DJ's passing. He had a very large impact on my life. Through the music that I continue to enjoy to friendships that I have carried through the years as a direct, or indirect result, of DJ Music Studio and before. I will always remember this extraordinary individual. Dick say hello to Doug Allen, I'm sure you are already playing together. :o(
