Music by The Piano Brothers

Alice May (Bogosian) Manugian of West Bridgewater died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 25, 2020, hours before her 97th birthday. She was born Dec. 26, 1923 in Brockton the daughter of Levon (Bogosian) Kasparian and Nellie (Archibald) Kasparian.

While dancing at an Armenian picnic with her father's band, she was spotted by a young man who paid her brother a quarter to get her phone number. Alice was predeceased by that young man, her husband of 62 years, Michael Manugian.

Her family remembers her for her word and number games, her love of gymnastics, music, dancing and doing handstands with her teenaged children. She built furniture from scratch, including desks for her children, a wall of cabinets for her kitchen, and transformed a convertible couch into a pair of loveseats.

She is remembered for her sewing and knitting which included sweaters, hats, and mittens for several generations and quilts and afghans that are now cherished possessions of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She loved playing mahjong, telling tall tales, and surprising all with her quick, dry wit which was with her to the very end of her life.

She is survived by her sister, Esther Moore of Dallas; her brother, Devron Cole of Middleboro; her children, Michael Manugian and his wife Aleta of Groton; Connie Keating of West Bridgewater; Sherry Manugian of Rochester; Richard Manugian and his partner Sheryl Hutchison of Olympia, Wash.; her six grandchildren, her four great- grandchildren, and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in her name may be made to the Brockton Visiting Nurses Association.
