Douglas A. Young, age 83, loving husband to Judith A. (Bendell) Young passed away Sunday February 28, 2021 at Morton Hospital in Taunton following a brief illness. Born in Brockton on Wednesday April 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Margaret I. (Morse) Young. Doug grew up in Brockton, graduated from Brockton High School and went on to attend Bentley College in Waltham. Doug and his wife Judy have been a resident of Lakeville since 1968, prior to that they lived in Easton and Abington. Prior to his retirement, Doug worked for various companies in his early working career before going into business for himself running Energy Control Systems, an insulation company. Following his retirement Doug worked as a dressman for Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home in Lakeville and formerly of Brockton. Doug always had a smile on his face, he loved to talk to people, and loved spending time with family and friends. He volunteered at his grandchildren’s schools while they were in elementary school. He also gave his time to the town of Lakeville working the polls during election seasons, and was a Shriner’s clown for Shriner’s Hospital for children. Doug was also a proud Mason, he was a member of three area lodges and was Past Master of St. George Lodge in Brockton. One of Doug’s other interest was watching old western movies. Doug leaves behind a legacy of a close knit family and will be sorely missed by his friends and family. In addition to his wife Judy of 61 years, Doug is survived by; his two children, Cheri Gauthier and her husband Joe, and Bryan Young and his wife Beth Anne, six grandchildren; Samantha Murray and her husband Ted, Jessica Bloom and her husband Zack, Jeremy Young and his wife Ainsley, Danielle Gauthier and Jesse, Benjamin Young and Dabin, and Grace Young, four great grandchildren; Leighton, Mackenna, Sean, and Rory, a sister in law; Mary Woodman, and his loving nieces and nephews. Due to the pandemic that is COVID-19, a memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life will be announced and held at a later date.
