Edward L. Stauch, age 73, devoted husband of almost 52 years to Irene E. (Consalvi) Stauch, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in Middleborough, MA. Born in Taunton, MA, on Monday, September 11, 1950, Eddie was the son of the late Edward N. and Hilda (Costa) Stauch. He was a graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth High School. As a teenager, Eddie was a volunteer firefighter for the Berkley Fire Department and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. Upon his return from the war, Eddie and his wife Irene bought their first home in Middleborough, where they lived until 2004, before moving to Lakeville. He also worked as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Middleborough Police Department after he and Irene were married. Eddie retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts where he worked in the payroll department as a timekeeper for the Department of Public Works. Following his retirement, he worked at Lowe’s Home Improvement in the lumber department. Eddie was an avid target shooter. He belonged to the National Rifle Association, Middleborough Sportsman Club, and the Taunton Rifle and Pistol Club. In addition to his wife Irene, Eddie is survived by his sisters Norma Bettencourt and her husband Ronald of Berkley and Jean Messina of Attleboro, many nieces and nephews, and his best friends Jimmy and Celeste Cohn of East Taunton. Eddie will be reunited with his dog and faithful companion Nickie. Visitation for Eddie will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 2:00-4:00PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Eddie will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, at a future date.
