Adelaide Evelyn (Barrock) Lincoln passed away on January 28, 2022, at her Lakeville, Massachusetts residence after a long and wonderful life, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Feb. 21, 1929, Adelaide grew up in Boston and Chestnut Hill, MA and was a lifelong member of Old South Church in Boston. Locally, she attended the Central Congregational Church in Middleborough, MA and the Lakeville United Church of Christ. Adelaide graduated from the Boston Girls’ Latin School in 1947 and continued her studies in fashion advertising at the Boston School of Fashion Design. Adelaide married and eventually moved to Lakeville, MA, where she lived for 63 years and raised her eight children.
In addition to her life at Lakeville, Adelaide enjoyed summers at her grandmother’s cherished family cottage in Maine, which was a love of her life. Adelaide likewise loved all people and had many close friends across broad and diverse backgrounds. Adelaide genuinely cared about the events occurring in her family’s and friend’s respective lives, and her inherent recollection of personal details was remarkable.
Aside from her full-time job raising a family, Adelaide also enjoyed working outside the home in positions at the Apponequet Regional High School library, the Seeley’s and Kennedy’s Clothing Stores, and the Council on Aging.
Adelaide is survived by her children Leslie Ellis and husband Kenneth, Claudia Andrews and husband Paul, Adelaide (Cis) Lincoln and partner Chris, Alison Kingston and husband Jeff, Laurel O’Brien and husband Bob, Frederic Lincoln and partner Matthew, Bethany Lincoln, and Meredith Lincoln. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all who were adored. She is predeceased by her mother Daisy A. Barrock, her cousin Robert W. Leonard, and her close Uncle and Aunt, Wallace and Grace Crowley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville, MA. A memorial celebration service and internment will be planned in Maine this spring. Donations in Adelaide’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (or online at stjude.org).
