Alan Douillette Obituary

Alan E. Douillette, age 71, of Lakeville, formerly of Brockton, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, to be with our Lord and Savior on December 23, 2021.  Throughout his over two-year battle with brain cancer, he maintained his strong faith and cheerful attitude.

Born on Friday November 24, 1950, in Brockton, MA, Alan was the son of the late Eugene F. and Linda R. (Guglia) Douillette.   He leaves his wife of 37 years, Jean (Allen), whom he loved dearly.  He will also be lovingly remembered by his son Steve J. Douillette and his partner, Dru Belli, of Quincy, his daughters Sarah L. (Andrew) Kantorski of Holliston, and Laura M. (Erik) Bachrach of Milford, and his brother, Ronald J. Douillette of Brockton.

Alan was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1969.  He was active in city softball and basketball leagues.  He then served with the U.S. Air Force as a Morse Code Intercept Operator collecting intelligence for the National Security Agency in Turkey and Taiwan. After military service he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Class of 1978.

He had a long and successful career with the U.S. Postal Service, working his way up from clerk to U.S. Postal Inspector.  His 24-year career as an Inspector was spent in the Phoenix, Cleveland, and Boston Divisions.

He applied his considerable research skills to his personal life and to help others.  He was a mentor to many.  After he retired, he volunteered for over ten years delivering Meals on Wheels every Thursday in Lakeville. Alan was known for his positive outlook on life.  When asked “How are you?” he would always reply “Happy.”

He was a communicant of Saints Martha and Mary Church in Lakeville.
