Basille N. (Nicolopoulos) Kyranos

Basille N. Kyranos, age 81, loving wife of 54 years of Christos J. Kyranos, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA, following a brief illness. Born on Friday, September 5, 1941, in Lowell, MA, Basille was the daughter of the late Theodore and Della (Sperounis) Nicolopoulos.

Basille grew up in Lowell, graduating from Lowell High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from the former Lowell State College, now known as UMASS Lowell, eventually earning her master’s degree in education from Fitchburg State College. She started her teaching career as a first-grade teacher in Ayer before becoming a reading specialist teacher for the Taunton Public Schools, where she would retire in 2001 after teaching for 36 years. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She valued spending time with family and friends. She was an avid reader, and would read every magazine, book, and newspaper she could get her hands on. She enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles and word games. She gave of her time volunteering for the Friends of the Lakeville Library, serving as treasurer for many years. Basille and her husband Chris were long time members of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton, MA.

In addition to her husband Chris, Basille is survived by her two sons John Kyranos and his wife Lisa of Lakeville, and Ted Kyranos and his wife Connie of Kingston, three grandchildren: Alexandria, Victoria, and Sophia. She is also survived by many cousins from the Nicolopoulos and Sperounis families.

Visitation for Basille will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 4:00PM – 7:00PM, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 10:00AM, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak Street, Brockton, MA 02301. Basille will be laid to rest at Precinct Cemetery, on Rhode Island Road (Rt.79) Lakeville, MA 02347, following the church service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Basille’s name can be made to the Friends of Lakeville Library, by mailing a check to 4 Precinct Street Lakeville, MA 02347.
