Bernice Wilbur Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice A. Wilbur, 94, beloved wife of the late Alfred H. Wilbur and daughter of the late Carl Hammarstrom and Bernice (Emery) Romano. She peacefully departed this life on November 27, 2025, at her residence in Raynham, MA, following a lengthy illness.

Born on February 24, 1931, in Abington, MA, Bernice grew up immersed in the warmth of her family and community, graduating from Abington High School. Throughout her life, she created cherished memories in various towns, including West Bridgewater, Easton, Brockton, Middleboro, and most recently Raynham. Her summers were filled with laughter and joy by the waters of Robbins Pond in East Bridgewater and Stetson Pond in Pembroke.

As a dedicated homemaker, Bernice found passion in her crafts, including ceramics and quilting, and delighted those around her with her baking, particularly her delicious desserts. She was a devoted member of the First Parish Congregational Church in Brockton, where she found a sense of community and fellowship.

Bernice is survived by her loving children, Alfred "Skip" Wilbur and his wife JoAnn, Steve Wilbur and his wife Barbara, Deb Wilbur and her husband Mark, and Tracy Wilbur. She leaves behind a legacy of love reflected in her ten grandchildren (nine granddaughters and one grandson) and thirteen great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild expected on the way.

In honor of Bernice's life, a private family visitation and funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Alfred, at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.

In this time of mourning, we remember Bernice not only for her warmth and nurturing spirit but also for the love she so generously shared with her family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Bernice was preceded in death by: Alfred Wilbur Sr., Carl Hammarstrom
