Betty Jane Baker Obituary

Betty Jane (Carl) Baker, age 82 of Bridgewater, MA, beloved wife of the late Frederick Baker, passed away unexpectedly on Monday March 29, 2021. Born on September 17, 1938 in Cambridge, MA, Betty Jane was the daughter of the late Alvin and Grace (Sergeant) Carl.  She was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School and enjoyed a career in advertising, sales and, later, as a bookkeeper.  However, her proudest and fondest time was spent with her family and many friends who knew her simply as “Grandy”.

Often behind the lens, Betty Jane enjoyed taking photos and turning them into beautiful scrapbooks for her family – special treasures appreciated by all recipients. She loved watching her birdfeeders and gardening, identifying the types of birds and blooms in the yard.  Many were gifted handmade items, as she loved crocheting special gifts, especially for the many babies and children who were loved by her.  Betty Jane also relished her opportunities to travel – most of all – her trips to Maine to see her brother, the late Paul Carl, and his wife Sandra.  She was a devout Christian, often found volunteering within the community as a teacher or mother’s helper, elderly companion, and prayer warrior.

Betty Jane is survived by her two sons, Domenic A. Calderone of Bridgewater, MA; Anthony Calderone and his wife Barbara (Kaufman) of Raynham, MA.  Her seven grandchildren Krista (Calderone) Allan and her partner Joey Auger of Lakeville, MA; Jennifer (Calderone) Bushinsky and her husband Lou of Medfield, MA; Laura (Calderone) Audette and her husband Wayne of Newport, RI; Cheryl Calderone of Bridgewater, MA; Emily (Calderone) Montagano and her husband Kyle of Bridgewater, MA; Domenic M. Calderone and his partner Allyson Ryan of Plaistow, NH; and Alex Calderone of Lakeville, MA.  She was preceded in death by her adored grandson in law S. Christopher Allan.  She is also survived by six great-grandchildren Colton and Keltie Allan; Ethan, Ayla, and Rachel Bushinsky; and Madison Auger, all who brought her endless happiness.
