Charles Frederick Griswold III, 66, of Lakeville, MA, passed away peacefully at the West Roxbury Veterans Hospital surrounded by family on June 18, 2023.
Chuck and his wife Christine married June 29, 1984, and resided in Berkley, MA for many years with their son Charles Griswold IV. They later moved to Lakeville which they have called home for several years. It’s here that they enjoyed the area’s wildlife, and where Chuck liked to spend his free time on his deck with some scotch and a nice cigar.
Chuck was a proud military veteran. In the early 1970’s during the Vietnam war he enlisted in the United States Army serving as an infantryman. He was stationed in Hawaii as part of the 25th infantry division. He served overseas in Guam assisting the Vietnamese refugees as part of Operation New Life. He was honorably discharged and returned to his hometown in Middleboro where he would meet and marry his wife, Christine.
Chuck was passionate about his friends and family and with a few friends founded the motorcycle club “Iron Trinity.” He loved riding motorcycles with his brothers and enjoyed many club parties. He was known for his humor and would make friends with anyone in the room.
Chuck was the middle child of five children. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter in law, granddaughter Ella, and his remaining siblings. A graveside service will be held on July 28, 2023, at 10:15AM, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
