Charles Neil Lobo

Charles Neil Lobo of East Taunton, MA, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the age of 75 following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Diane (Thomas) Lobo, and the son of the late Laurencio J. and Dominga (Neves) Lobo. Charles was born in New Bedford, MA, and graduated from Bristol Community College and UMASS Amherst, where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army in the 98th medical detachment during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1970. Afterwards, Mr. Lobo worked at MacLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, before accepting an assignment with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services where he managed several Boston area facilities, retiring in 2005.

Mr. Lobo was a member of the VFW Post 611 and the American Legion Post 64. His interests included fishing, playing cribbage and other card games, watching action movies and wrestling, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, making people laugh and enjoying his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Holy Family Parish in East Taunton.

In addition to his wife Diane, Charles is survived by his children, Sara B. Lobo, Lucas P. Lobo, and Laura A. Lobo, grandchildren Zoe M. Suntheimer, Sarah M. Suntheimer, Olivia S. Lobo, and Zachary A. Lobo. He is also survived by his siblings Carol Lowe, Wayne Lobo, Tim Lobo, Jean Santos, Rose Fernandes, John Lobo, Roberta Lobo, Michael Lobo, Christine Lobo, and Franklin Lobo, as well as his many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his brothers Lawrence (Jack) Lobo, Peter Lobo, and his sisters Dolores Galvin and Mary Lobo-Dorsey.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4:00-7:00PM on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:00AM at Holy Family Parish, 370 Middleboro Avenue, East Taunton, MA 02718. Mr. Lobo will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford, MA, immediately following the funeral mass.
