Cheryl Kathleen Froio passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2026, at her home in Acushnet, MA. Cheryl grew up in Halifax, MA where she attended school and graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School. She furthered her education at Bridgewater State University where she studied and graduated with a degree in Earth Science.
Cheryl was first and foremost a mother. She dedicated her life’s energy to her son Brayden. His happiness and wellbeing were her top priority. She was so proud of him and loved to watch him play basketball and baseball.
Cheryl was the baby of her family. She wouldn’t apologize for needing to sit in her mom’s lap for a hug and cuddle as needed. She is profoundly missed by her mom and siblings, whose lives are forever changed by her love, laughter, and presence. Our hearts are truly broken by this loss and how it happened.
Her boyfriend, Jeremy Goncalves, is kind and understanding and his presence brought her so much comfort and happiness. They shared a love of watching their sons sports together. She was lucky to have found this love in her life.
To her friends, Cheryl was the light of every gathering. Always delightfully goofy, trying to make everyone laugh, and being adorably clumsy. They could always count on her to bring the vibe of any room up with her infectious smile and comical dance moves. No one could say hello or goodbye without a Cheryl-sized bear hug. She loved her friends fiercely and supported them unfailingly. There will always be a piece missing from “The Crew”, her absence is deeply felt.
She loved doing puzzles, going camping with extended family, and spending time with her girlfriends. She loved her group Wordle game with her sister and nieces. A little friendly competition was good for us all. She felt incredible joy in being able to do things or buy things for other people. She loved to spoil her nieces and nephews during the holidays. She was someone you could always call for help in any situation and she would be there to support you.
She is survived by her son Brayden of Acushnet, her mother Carolyn Maul of Acushnet, her siblings, Angela & John Doyle of Lakeville, Anthony & Beth Froio of Norton, David Froio & Melissa Glover of Acushnet. Also, the father of her son, Kevin Tracey, paternal family members Augustine & Terry Russo, Caitlin & Brandon Graves, and Justin & Ashley Flannery. Her Uncle & Aunt Charles & Jean Pike and her Aunt Kathleen Froio. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Samaritans Southcoast, a suicide prevention and support organization serving people throughout Massachusetts. Samaritans provides free, confidential listening and crisis support services and fosters community education on suicide prevention. Donations in memory of Cheryl can help sustain these vital services and support grieving families.
Visiting hours will be held at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA on Thursday, January 15th from 3-6pm. A dinner reception will be held for family and close friends at the Back Nine Pub at Heritage Hill Golf Course 17 Heritage Hill Drive Lakeville, MA 02347 from 6-8pm.
