Chester P. Mann

Chester P. Mann of Middleboro MA, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the age of 83 after a brief illness. Born on Friday, April 7, 1939, in Stoughton, MA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Signe Mann of Stoughton, MA. Chester was a member of the Stoughton High School class of “57”.  Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, serving his country on the USS Barataria and the USS Castle Rock for four years.  He was honorably discharged and married his love Linda (Sandberg) Mann of Holbrook MA.

He was a self-taught class A machinist and later became an appliance repair technician and farmer.

Chet loved being with his family.  He enjoyed camping, traveling, shell fishing on the Cape, fishing, gardening in his backyard, and watching his children and grandchildren play whichever sport or event they participated in. 

Chet was a storyteller, jokester, mentor, and always had an open-door policy to family, friends, and anyone who needed a friendly face or handshake, as most know he had a “vise grip”.

He was a son, brother to seven siblings, husband, father, Papa, and Great-Papa to us all. Chet is survived by his son Curtis P. Mann, of Lakeville, daughter, Greta (Mann) Bennett and husband Bob Bennett of Middleboro.  Grandchildren; Brenden Bennett and wife Lauren of Rhode Island Eryk Mann and wife Kim of Middleboro, and Krystyna Mann of North Carolina.  He was also very proud to be a great grand Papa to Jack, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 10:15AM, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local food pantry.
