Dale Caswell Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Sumner Caswell, age 88, beloved husband of Elaine (Freitas) Caswell. Dale peacefully departed this life on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at his home in Middleborough, MA, after a courageous nine-month battle with declining health. Born on May 19, 1938, in Boston, MA, he was the cherished son of the late William R. and Alice E. (Dunham) Caswell.

Dale proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard from July 1956 until December 1956, attaining the rank of Pvt E-2 (P). He found joy in his work at the family business, Caswell Brothers Market, which evolved into South Shore Packing and later Purity Supreme. Additionally, Dale displayed dedication in his role as a correctional officer at MCI Walpole.

A true enthusiast of life, Dale was actively involved in several local clubs, including the South Shore Antique Auto Club, the Old Colony Model T Club, the Tumbleweeds Motorcycle Club, and the Middleborough Sportsmen Club. He had a passion for guns, motorcycles, and antique cars, and he cherished opportunities to travel across the United States and Canada.

Dale's spirit will be lovingly remembered by his family, including his wife Elaine; his son Jeffrey S. Caswell and his wife Jody; son Darren Caswell; son Dale E. Caswell and his wife Diana; and his adored grandchildren Ashley, Kyle, Brianna, and Benjamin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Dale was preceded in death by his brothers Henry, William, and George, as well as his sisters Eleanor Delfino, Wilma Zilonis, Marion McInnes, Meredith Davis, and Sylvia McMannus.

Dale's life was marked by his love for family, his steadfast work ethic, and his unwavering commitment to community service. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dale's memory to a charity of your choice.
