Daniel L. Burns Sr.

Daniel L. Burns, Sr., 81, of St. Petersburg, FL, and Raynham, MA passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, of heart and lung failure. He was the son of Captain James E. Burns and Eleanore W. (Siwik) Burns. He was predeceased by his parents, siblings James Burns, Kevin Burns, Karin Burns and his former spouse Ann M. (Forcier) Burns. He is survived by their five children Daniel Burns, Jr., Deborah Barry, David Burns, Darlene True and Dawn Costa and her husband David. With a fascination for cars since he was a young child, he went to vocational school (currently Bristol-Plymouth Regional Vocational-Technical High School) for auto mechanics and with his then spouse Ann at his side, later founded Bedford Street Motors in Lakeville, Burns Motor Sales in Middleboro before relocating to Raynham on what is now known as Raynham Auto Mile and Route 44 Auto Sales at the Raynham location. In his retirement, he enjoyed the sunny weather and beaches of Florida, obtaining newer cars each year, usually Cadillacs, visits from family and friends and his morning coffee. He also enjoyed the art of the deal whether buying another car or property, buying or selling secondhand furniture or just finding things at thrift shops such a good coffee pot. Besides his children, he leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Susan Cote, nieces, nephews, a cousin and several good friends. Visitation for Daniel will be held on Wednesday July 30th from 4:00 - 7:00PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home at 280 Bedford St., Lakeville, MA. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church of Middleboro, MA on Thursday July 31, 2025, at 10AM. Daniel will be laid to rest in Saint Mary's Cemetery on Wood Street in Middleborough immediately following the mass.
