Daniel Cook Obituary

Daniel (Dan) Joseph Cook, age 66, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the AdviniaCare in Wellesley after a lengthy battle with frontotemporal dementia.

He was born on September 9, 1959, in Adrian, MI., to William and Nancy (Winters) Cook. He was the third born into a family of seven children.

When Dan was a teenager, he realized that he was a sinner in need of a Savior and trusted in Christ's finished work on the cross for his salvation. His passion was telling others about Jesus. Dan received a Bachelor of Arts in Church Ministries and traveled with music groups from his college and later with a music group from a Christian camp. While working at this Christian camp one summer, he met his wife Randi Mello of Lakeville, MA. They were married on December 19, 1987.

Dan later completed a Certificate in Accountancy from Bentley College. He worked as an accountant for many years before his diagnosis. He loved music and serving at his church. Over the years, he enjoyed teaching Sunday school, serving as a choir director, and leading congregational singing. Those who knew Dan remember his puns and quick wit. His friendly and fun-loving personality was loved by many. He was a big Boston Red Sox fan and listened to every game on his portable radio.

Dan is survived by his wife Randi Cook of Lakeville, his daughter Rachel Cook of Southington, CT, and his daughter Rebekah Cook of Lakeville, MA; his brothers and sisters Douglas Cook and his wife Denise of Adrian, MI, Cathy Beam and her husband Don of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Bill H. Cook and his wife Michele of Adrian, MI, Sue Wilbar and her husband Bob of Adrian, Patty Cook of Adrian, and Tim Cook and his wife Amy of Adrian. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5:00-6:15 pm at Silver City Baptist Church 261 Tremont Street in Taunton, followed by a funeral service at 6:30pm. A graveside service will be held at Sampson Cemetery on Bedford Street in Lakeville on Wednesday, July 1 at 11:00am.
