Daniel Shea Jr. Obituary

Daniel F. Shea Jr., of Lakeville, MA, formerly of Malden and Bellingham, passed away after a long illness on March 10, 2022, at the age of 68.

Born in 1953, the son of the late Daniel F. and Virginia L. (Harvey) Shea, he spent his childhood in Malden, Massachusetts. He graduated Malden High School in 1971 and studied Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University.

Dan worked 37 years for The Foxboro Co/Invensys/Schneider Electric and retired in 2014 as I/A Business Operations Manager, before becoming VP of Operations at Bedrock Automation from 2014-2020.

Dan leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years Charlene (Bezok) Shea along with his daughters - Ashley Shea of Phoenix, AZ, Amanda Field and her husband Dennis of Taunton, and Alyssa Shea and her fiancé Jake Storey of Uxbridge. He also leaves three granddaughters, Layna Barrett of Phoenix, AZ, Summer Mahrous of Dallas, TX and Kaia Field of Taunton.  In addition, he leaves behind his brother, Joseph Shea, a nephew and several nieces and a large extended family consisting of aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Shea.

Family was everything to Dan. His daughters were his pride and joy as he raised, coached, educated, and was there for everything in their lives.  Dan loved to play softball and coach his daughters.  He was a member of the Lakeville Playground Association for many years, running the Lakeville Girls Softball program.  Dan loved to golf and enjoyed volunteering at the TPC Boston as a hole captain for many years.  When he wasn’t working or volunteering, you could find Dan at a classic rock concert or a Boston sporting event, as he was an avid fan of both.

Dan was a fun-loving, driving force during social events with family and friends, resulting in Dan being an important part of the many happy memories that anyone in his orbit treasures.  Many of the people that spent time within his circle were absorbed into his “Family” and consider themselves aunts and uncles to his daughters.  He loved group storytelling, especially stories that ended in loud laughter.  Laughter was very important to Dan.

Dan was very loyal to his family, friends and coworkers and he was loved in return.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with his family from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, March 18th at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St, Lakeville, MA 02347.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on Saturday, March 19th from 11:00am to 3:00pm at Fireside Grille, 30 Bedford Street, Middleboro, MA 02346.
