David L. Hanson, age 80, devoted family man and loving husband of Dianne (Farley) Hanson for 52 years, passed away on Tuesday October 5, 2021 at Morton Hospital in Taunton after a period of declining health. Born on Thursday January 16, 1941, in Middleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Elwin Lane and Ellen K. (Alger) Hanson. David grew up in Middleboro, and graduated from Middleboro High School, class of 1959, where he was an accomplished athlete. He earned his associates degree from Bentley College in Boston, class of 1961. He would go on to earn an E.M.B.A. (Executive Masters of Business Administration) from Northeastern University in Boston. David was a Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) fellow, and a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Middleboro. A resident of Lakeville for the past 52 years, David was the Vice-President and Treasurer for the Goddard Memorial Hospital formerly of Stoughton, then as the Chief Financial Officer (C.F.O.), of the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center until his retirement. David loved to eat, especially if it was dining out. He and Dianne also loved to travel. Some of their favorite trips were Land & Sea Cruises to Alaska, family trips to Disney World, Caribbean Cruising (especially Doo-Wop Cruises), and driving in their motor home cross country to Western National Parks. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family cruise to Bermuda in 2019. They also enjoyed spending winters at their condo in Delray Beach, FL. In addition to his wife Dianne, David was the proud father of his three daughters Julie DeMinico and her husband Eric of Salem, NH, Michelle Taylor and her husband Rick of Lakeville, and Kerrie Perkins and her husband Matt of Lakeville, and six grandchildren Trevor and Troy DeMinico, Addison and Sadie Taylor, and Brayden and Audrey Perkins. He is also survived by his brothers Elwin Hanson of Lakeville, and Raymond Hanson and his wife Carol of Shelbyville, IN. He was predeceased by his brother John Hanson. Visitation for David will be held on Tuesday October 12, 2021, from 5:00-8:00PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. A funeral home service will take place Wednesday October 13, 2021, at 11:00AM, with his niece, Pastor Kristen Hanson, officiating. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in St. Mary’s cemetery in Middleboro, MA.
