David M. Johnson

David M. Johnson, 78, beloved husband of Mary Jane (Duffy) Johnson, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, after a courageous seven-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on August 11, 1947, in Quincy, MA, he was the son of the late Harold and Elsie (Murray) Johnson. A proud resident of Middleborough, David was raised in South Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School in 1965.

David dedicated much of his professional life to serving his community as a mechanic for the United States Postal Service, until his retirement where he was known for his reliability and commitment. Prior to his time at the Postal Service, David worked for Dolby Typewriter, eventually opening his own typewriter repair business. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, a time that deeply shaped his character and values.

In addition to his dedicated service, David cherished his passions for fishing, bowling, and building. A craftsman at heart, he found joy in woodworking and had a keen interest in antique cars. He loved to travel, enjoying numerous cruises, and had a penchant for playing blackjack in his leisure time.

David is survived by his devoted wife Mary Jane Johnson of Middleborough, and his two sons, David M. Johnson Jr. and his wife Donna of Norwell, and Michael A. Johnson and his wife Jaclyn of Carver. He will be lovingly remembered by his three grandsons, Zachary, Benjamin, and Lucas, as well as his sister, Diane Morse and her husband Carl of Florida.

A memorial visitation for David will be held on July 7, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Following the visitation, a private graveside service will be held at Central Cemetery in Halifax, where David will be laid to rest with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in honor of David to the Alzheimer's Association, supporting a cause that holds great significance to them.

David will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His kind spirit, warm heart, and legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
