Denise Lynne (Mattos) Janick

Denise Lynne (Mattos) Janick, 63, of Lakeville, MA, loving wife of Thomas Janick, passed away suddenly on Saturday July 3, 2021, at her home in Lakeville, MA. Born on Thursday January 30, 1958, in Taunton, MA, Denise was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Brodeur) Mattos. She grew up in Taunton, MA, before settling in Lakeville, MA in the 1960’s. Denise was a 1976 graduate of Apponoquet Regional High School. She married her husband Thomas in 1978 and the two were happily married for over 43 years. Denise was an accomplished golfer and a talented decorator whose number one job was raising first, her daughter and then helping raise her grandchildren. A trusted friend too many, Denise brought sunshine into the lives of many people while working at Poquoy Brook Golf Course for 41 years. She held many positions in the clubhouse starting with the serving of sandwiches and drinks at the “shack” at the top of the hill, as old timers remember it. Upon retirement, Denise immersed herself in the happiness of her grandchildren. Just hours before her sudden passing, she cheered on her grandson on at a little league baseball game. Denise was a loving, supporting wife, mother and nana who always put the interests of everyone else ahead of her own interests, she will be sorely missed by family, friends, and associates. In addition to her husband Thomas, Denise is survived by her loving daughter, Courtney Stanton and her husband Michael, grandchildren James Thomas and Emma Lynne Stanton, brother Brian Mattos and her many sister in laws, brother in laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of Denise’s life and visitation will be held on Monday July 12, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Denise will be held on Tuesday July 13, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Sts. Martha & Mary Church 354 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Denise will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton, MA, immediately following the funeral mass.
