Donna L. (Place) Kirk

Donna Lee Kirk, age 76, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA, after a nearly fourteen-month battle with liver cancer. Donna was the wife of the late Rev. Richard Kirk who passed this past November of 2022. Born in Brockton, MA, on Thursday, October 24, 1946, she was the daughter of the late George T. Place and Susan E. (Koeppel) Place. Donna graduated from Brockton High School class of 1964, with a focus on business and accounting. After high school Donna worked for several years at Mutual Federal Savings in the accounting department. She then spent the majority of her career working for Shaw’s Supermarket in the accounting and payroll services department, and was a resident of Raynham, MA. Donna was known as a good friend to everyone who came into contact with her and went out of her way to help her neighbors, friends, family, and fellow church members. She regularly provided rides to those who were unable to drive themselves, to church, medical appointments, shopping, and errands. Her stepchildren and their families gave her great pleasure. She enjoyed singing, regularly attending and participating in song-related musical services sponsored by the churches she attended. Donna was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rockland MA, and a frequent attendee at Silver City Baptist Church in Taunton, MA. Her faith defined and directed her life. Donna is survived by her brother Robert E. Place of Whitman, sisters-in-law Gail Place of Whitman, Marilyn Paterno of South Hadley, MA, and Nancy Kirk of Greenfield, MA, stepson James Kirk of Versailles, KY, stepdaughter Elizabeth Ely of Fort Collins, CO, three step granddaughters, two step great-granddaughters, and four step great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her sister Virginia R. Kirk, and her first husband Frederick Guillemette.

Visiting hours for Donna will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 28, 2023, at 10:00AM, at the First Baptist Church of Rockland, 200 Union Street, Rockland, MA 02370. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Donna’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, or charitable or religious organization of your choice. For those of you who are unable to attend the memorial service in person on Saturday, Donna's service will be live streamed on the First Baptist Church of Rockland's Facebook page.
