Doris A. (Horrigan) Lee of Stoughton, passed into the presence of our heavenly father on June 27, 2023, in Brockton at the age of 89, following a decline in her health.
Born on June 26, 1934, to Dennis and Doris (Tordoff) Horrigan of Newton. She attended and graduated from Newton High school in 1952. Soon after that she met the love of her life, Norman Lee, and they were married in Newton Upper Falls in 1955.
Doris loved being a homemaker and enjoyed her work as a home health aide. She attended Second Baptist Church in Newton Upper Falls, the Olivet Memorial Church in Brockton, and the Fellowship in Easton. Doris loved the Lord and was very active in the church, in her community, and she absolutely cherished her family and friends.
Doris was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, football, baseball, hockey, both winter and summer Olympics, and roller derby. She also enjoyed reading, watching game shows, doing word search puzzles, and playing “The Game”.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Norman Lee. Also, by her parents, Dennis and Doris Horrigan, her brothers, and their spouses: John L. (Dorothy), William J. (Mary), Robert J., David W. (Anna), Walter P. (Barbara), Fred (Joan), and Dennis J., her sisters Evelyn (Thomas) McNamara, Phyllis Horrigan, and Alice Horrigan.
Loving and devoted mother, she is survived by her children: Douglas E. Lee and his wife Debra of New Bedford, Diane E. Thornton and her husband Michael of Avon, David N. Lee and his wife Linda of Ft. Myers, FL, Debbie J. Munroe, and her husband John of Stoughton. Adored Grandmother of: Dennis R. Bates and his wife Jennifer of Brockton, Daniel L. Bates of Avon, Jessie L. Munroe and her fiancé Jonathan Wydola of Ashland, NH, Devin M. Thornton of Avon, Mackenzie D. Munroe of Stoughton, Caitlin M. Lee of Quincy, and Darah A. Thornton of Avon. Proud and devoted great-grandmother of: Parker “B” Wydola and Daisy Lee Bates. She is also survived by two step grandchildren: Chelsea and Brittany Jean, two sisters-in-law, Margaret Horrigan of Fort Pierce, FL, and Elizabeth Chambers of Wareham, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Doris will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
