Dorothy E. Boynton, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her home in North Dighton, MA, following a short illness. She was the loving wife of David P. Boynton for 32 years. Born in Boston, MA, on Sunday, June 13, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Franklin C. and Thelma M. (Cooper) Hatch. In addition to her husband David, Dorothy is survived by her daughter Jannine Weakley of Dighton, son Joseph Connolly and his wife Priscilla of Wake Forrest, NC, stepdaughter Samantha Boynton of Whitman, sister Wanda Taylor of North Dighton, grandchildren Amy Burt, Kalileah and Kai Connolly, 3 step-grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Denise Saunders, sister Patricia Richmond, and brother Stephen Hatch.
Dorothy grew up in Alston, MA, lived in Wareham, MA, for 13 years before moving to North Dighton where she and her husband David resided. She earned her G.E.D. and attended classes in accounting at Stonehill College. She then earned her certificate in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Dorothy worked in the accounting department for Lowell Temp Engineering and O-D Tool & Dye. She then went to work in the finance industry as a loan originator for several area banks and institutions up until her retirement. A talented artist, Dorothy enjoyed anything arts & crafts. She made her own handmade soaps, painted, and refinished furniture, selling them out of her own shop, and had a real eye for decorating and interior design. She was a member of the Attleboro Arts Society and Museum, and belonged to the West Congregational Church in Taunton, MA.
Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 4:00-7:00PM, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00PM.
