Edward G. Fafard, 80 years old, of Lakeville, sadly left us on Monday morning, January 8, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane Fafard of Lakeville, and their four children; Keith Hood and his wife Nid of San Francisco, Kim Thomas and her partner Michael Camara of Lakeville, Michael Fafard, and his partner Lauren Gavin of Bridgewater, and was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Cherie Fafard, his Father Jean Baptiste Fafard and Mother Louisa Prosper Fafard of Brockton. Edward’s real pride and joy was his grandchildren; Michael Thomas and his wife Jacqulin of New Bedford, Joshua Thomas and his partner Alyson Fleck of Middleboro, Daniel Hood of San Francisco, and his great-granddaughter Alice Thomas. He is also survived by his sister Carol D’Ostroph and her husband Randy of Brockton and his brother William Fafard and his wife Cheryl of Wareham and many nieces and nephews.
For many years, he was the owner of the Star Market grocery store in E. Bridgewater and later he was a local, self-employed Wise Potato Chip food distributor who was affectionately known in the area as “The Wise guy”. He Loved sports and often reminisced about his Brockton High School football state champion days. He belonged to the classic bowling league of Brockton and also the men’s bocce league. He spent many years as a volunteer coach to generations of Lakeville Little Leaguers.
Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM this Monday, January 15, 2024, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford Street in Lakeville, MA. A committal service will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Wood Street in Middleboro, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in honor of Edward to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation. The family is grateful for the exemplary service provided by the Lakeville Police and Fire & Rescue Departments.
