Eleanor Dors Obituary

Eleanor M. (Willis) Dors, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday October 19, 2024, at her home in Onset, MA following a short illness. Eleanor was the loving daughter of the late Russell and Mildred (Swift) Willis of Middleborough. Eleanor was born and raised in West Bridgewater MA, graduating from the former Howard High School, now West Bridgewater High School class of 1954. Shortly after graduation she met and married her late husband Henry F. Dors and settled in Bridgewater to raise a family. Eleanor was a dedicated homemaker to their six children Stephen, Shellie, Susan, Stacey, Stefanie & Sharon. In the early sixties they purchased a summer home in Onset where they would later retire. Eleanor thoroughly enjoyed her time on the beach, she lived for beach Wednesdays where her entire family and her neighborhood in Onset would sit on the beach from sunup until sundown laughing and enjoying each other’s company. She had a cackle that could be heard on the other side of the beach. Eleanor was world renowned for not holding back her opinion and her knack for telling it like it is.  Eleanor was a member of the socialites bowling league at Westgate Lanes up until her passing and many other leagues throughout her life. She was an avid fan of college basketball, especially UCONN. She very much enjoyed going out to eat, have you ever been to a breakfast place that had a dedicated table for you and the staff called you queen? Well, she did, she found great joy in visiting Percy’s Place for breakfast where they rolled out the red carpet for her. She spent her last summer going out to lunch weekly to sample margaritas. Blueberry margarita from Baldies takes home first prize. So, the next time you have a margarita please raise a glass and remember our friend Eleanor Dors.

Eleanor was the loving wife of the late Henry F. Dors of Onset and loving mother to Stephen Dors and his significant other Lynda Ellis of Middleborough, the late Shellie Maher and her husband David of Bridgewater, Susan Shepard and her husband Peter of Arizona, Stacey MacDermid and her husband James of Middleborough, Stefanie Dors of Wareham and Sharon Ayotte and her husband Robert of Rhode Island. Proud Grandmother to 17 grandchildren and “Gigi” to 16 great grandkids. Eleanor was predeceased by her brother Stanley Willis and his wife Irene, her sister Jean York and her husband Murton and her brother George Willis. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
