Eleanor Marianne Lundberg, loving and devoted wife of the late Harold A. Lundberg, passed away on April 7, 2014 at Epoch of Norton. She had struggled many years with Alzheimer’s and succumbed to complications thereof. She would have been 92 in May.
Marianne was born in Minnesota to the late Oskar Hjalmar & Agnes (Brood) Ostrom, who were Swedish-American Baptist missionaries to the Belgian Congo at the time. She grew up in the Quincy and Dorchester areas of Mass, graduating with the class of 1940 from Quincy High School. She later received her B.A. and R.N. at Simmons College School of Nursing in Boston. Among the places Marianne held nursing positions were McLean Hospital, MA and Bethel College, MN where she would meet her love, Harold.
While raising a family in Easton, Marianne took to full-time babysitting from her home and had a loving and caring impact on the hearts of a number of children who are now grown but recall their time with “Lundy” fondly.
After attending Trinity Baptist Church of Brockton for many years, Harold & Marianne were instrumental in the founding of Easton Baptist Church, remaining life-long members. In recent years they resided in Raynham with family.
Marianne leaves behind two sons and their families: Ken & Carol (Scholla) Lundberg of Louisville, KY and grandson, Andrew Lundberg and Steven & Rebecca (Cragan) Lundberg of Raynham, MA and granddaughter, Emily Lundberg. She is predeceased by her sister, Helen Eldred of VT. Marianne was known as a “prayer warrior” and touched many hearts in her lifetime. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St, Brockton, MA.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Easton Baptist Church, 197 Bay Rd, Easton, MA. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
