Elizabeth Ann (Berg) Gates, of Taunton, MA, passed away on Thursday June 11, 2026, at the Alden Court Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven, MA. She was 98 years old and has now gone home to spend eternity with her God and love of her life, her late husband George A. Gates. Born in Boston, MA, on September 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. & Elizabeth A. Berg, and spent most of her life in East Taunton, MA, surrounded by her family.
Elizabeth was a stay-at-home mom, raising her 7 children. She is survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, a total of 36 in all. She blessed them with her prayer handed down by her mother..."Angel of God my guardian dear to whom Gods love committs me here, ever this day be at my side to light and to guard to rule and to guide. May the Lord bless you and keep you and shine his love down upon you all the days of your life". She has cherished you watched you grow and loved you all. Her greatest legacy is this amazing family who have loved and cared for her so perfectly
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth A. Pinto and her husband Russell of Dartmouth, Roseanne Ouellette and her husband Roger of Newport RI, her sons George J. Gates and his wife Maria of East Taunton, Kevin F. Gates and his wife Kathleen of Berkley, her daughter Karen F. Booth and her husband Everett of East Taunton, her son Robert Gates and his wife Debra of New York, and her daughter Susan M. Tetreault and her husband Richard of Lunnenburg. She leaves her siblings, Richard Berg of Taunton, Arthur Berg of Boston, and Carolyn Awalt of Berkley, Geraldine Teixeira of New Mexico. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph Berg, Robert Berg, Kenneth Berg, and her sisters Marian Graham, Donna-Marie Hizney, and Ruthanne Tanner.
Her family wishes to thank the Alden Court Fairhaven staff for loving and caring for our mom for the last four years. Thank you also to Beacon Hospice for helping mom and her family walk mom's path home. And a special thank you to Father Michael Racine who has taken care of all her spiritual needs for a very long time.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Thursday June 18, 2026, from 9:00-10:30AM, at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. A funeral mass of christian burial will take place at 11:00AM at the Holy Family Parish, 372 Middleboro Avenue, East Taunton, MA 02718. Elizabeth will be laid to rest with her late husband George at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Taunton, MA, immediately following the funeral mass.
