Erica C. (Akerblom) Beiswinger

Erica C. Akerblom Beiswinger, aged 63, daughter of the late Eric C. and Helen L. Akerblom, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2021 at her home in Palm Coast, FL.  She is predeceased by two sisters, Donnalea Fernandes and Christine Lafferty.  She is survived by her brother, Carl Akerblom of Ft Lauderdale, FL; her sister, Paula Lane of Orono, ME; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Erica was born on June 14, 1957 in Brockton, MA.   She graduated from Brockton High School and pursued a career in nursing.  She served as an RN in both MA and FL during her career.  She especially liked working in geriatrics.   Her love and care for people, brought her to serve as a missionary for three months in Liberia, Africa aboard the Mercy Ship Anastasis as a dental surgery assistant.  Erica loved her time aboard the ship, and the Liberian people.  She felt it was one of the highlights of her life.

Erica was an artist by nature.  She loved color and diversity of color and texture.  Her creativity was seen in her paintings, quilting, crafting, cooking, gardening, and home.  In recent years, her creativity lived and bloomed in her back yard.  Whether it was banana trees or clematis or painting the patio and wooden swing, she was always working and changing her yard to make a colorful, peaceful oasis for all to enjoy.

Erica had a deep and abiding love for all animals.  Although she was a lifelong dog owner, she enjoyed having purring cats on her lap, watching birds, riding horses, visiting manatee state parks in Florida, and held a special soft spot for African elephants.  There was not an animal that crossed her path that she didn’t meet and greet.

She will be greatly missed by the family and friends who loved her.  Her service and internment of ashes will be held Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 11am at Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl Street, Brockton, MA.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Flagler Humane Society, 1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
