Frances M. (Sheehan) McCabe, affectionately known as “Chickie”, passed away Sunday June 26, 2022, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA, following a lengthy illness. Frances was the wife of the late John J. McCabe. She was born on Monday March 12, 1945, in Cambridge, MA, to the late Lawrence Sheehan and Myrtle (Gobiel) Silva. Frances grew up in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin. She lived in East Boston, then in Brockton and for the last 30 years in Middleboro. Early on Frances worked at the former Shrafts candy Company, then, dedicated many years of her life as a devoted homemaker for her first husband George Arbia Sr. and their 3 children. Later, Frances continued her career as production supervisor for Powers Pharmaceutical.
Frances enjoyed spending time socializing with friends and family, casino trips, painting & crafts, puzzles, interior and exterior design and was an excellent seamstress. There was not a task the woman could not tackle. She was the original Martha Stewart.
Frances is survived by her son Daniel Arbia and his partner Mona Stuber of Taunton, son George Arbia Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and daughter Charlene Arbia of Rochester, MA. Grandchildren Ashley McKenna of Merrimac, NH, Alexandra Boyer of Brockton, Joseph Arbia of Brockton, Salinna Irving of Las Vegas, NV, Kyle Arbia, Kayla Arbia of Rockland, MA and Jessie Arbia of Las Vegas, NV. Great grandchildren twins Jackson and Joseph McKenna of Merrimack, NH. Brother John Kelly of Alabama, sister Barbara Walton of Texas, brother Joseph Sheehan of Arkansas, sister Patricia Chapman of Middleboro, brother Lawrence Sheehan Jr. of Texas, sister Carol Corr of Woburn, sister Marie Bolduc of East Boston, Ethel Delgado of Cambridge, and Edward Silva of Wakefield, including many nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her first husband George Arbia Sr, and brothers Paul Sheehan and James Sheehan.
All are welcome to memorial visitation on Wednesday July 6, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Followed by a memorial service at 7:00PM. In Lieu of flowers, Frances’ family has asked that you please consider donating blood to your local blood bank.
