Gene Bartlett Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Nemasket Health Care Center in Middleborough. Gene suffered from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease with Dementia for many years. Gene was born Tuesday, January 9, 1940, in Middleborough to the late Basil W. Bartlett Sr. & Leah E. (Galfre) Bartlett. Gene grew up in Middleborough and graduated from Middleborough High School class of 1958.
Gene went on to become a successful landscaper, builder, and land developer. He loved his work and put his heart and soul in all that he did. Gene enjoyed time with his family, friends, and his horses. He enjoyed seafood and football and all the holidays. He truly enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter for many years.
Gene was one of eight children. He is survived by his brother Basil W. Bartlett, Jr. and wife Evelyn and his sister Annette Bartlett. Also survived by his 7 children, 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Loraine (Bartlett) D’Elia, Elsie (Bartlett) Mason, Joann Bartlett and his brothers Errol Bartlett and Vincent Bartlett.
Gene’s family and friends have expressed fond memories and their love for him. He was a good man with a big heart. He will be missed always but will live forever in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the staff at Nemasket Health Care Center and Continuum Care Hospice for the care of their father and kindness, especially in the last few weeks.
A private graveside service for family will be held at Sampson’s Cemetery in Lakeville. In Lieu of flowers please consider giving to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
