Gerald "Jerry" Joseph Dougherty, Jr.

Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Dougherty, Jr., age 69, beloved husband of Jane M. (Fratus) Dougherty, passed away Tuesday August 10, 2021, at his home after a period of failing health. Born on Friday September 28, 1951, Jerry was the son of, Gerald J. and Margaret L. (Bachofner) Dougherty, Sr. Jerry was a member of the Local 88 Tunnel Workers Union and worked on the Boston 3rd Harbor tunnel. Later he worked for Franchi Construction of Natick, MA, until his retirement. An avid reader who enjoyed working in his yard, and spending time with his grandchildren. A quick-witted no-nonsense type of guy who could find humor in any situation. Family and friends often stopped by seeking his advice or company. In addition to his wife Jane, Jerry is survived by his, son Gerald J. Dougherty, III, and his fiancé Tammy, son Derek M. Dougherty and his wife Christina, daughter Nicole L. Dougherty-McGillicuddy and her husband Scott, daughter Sarah E. Dougherty and her fiancé Travis, three grandchildren, Kayleigh, Colin, and Taylor, sisters, Karen Smith, Barbra Bolia, Elaine Torres, and two brothers, Mark and Daniel Dougherty. Jerry was predeceased by his sister Patricia Wainio, and brother Michael Dougherty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 19, 2021, at 11:00 at Sts. Martha & Mary Catholic Church 354 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Visitation will take place prior to the funeral mass from 9:00 – 10:30AM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Jerry will be laid to rest at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Middleboro, MA, following the funeral mass.
