It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gretchen Elizabeth Berg, aged 63, who departed this life on August 27, 2025, at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA. Gretchen was born on September 30, 1961, in Quincy, MA, and spent many of her years as a resident of Taunton.
Gretchen was known for her joyful spirit and strong sense of humor, delighting in the simple pleasures of life. She attended Co-Operative Productions Day Program in Taunton, where she made lasting friendships. A devoted patron of the Taunton Public Library, Gretchen enjoyed immersing herself in stories through her love of books on tape. She was a frequent attendee at Fran & Ted's dances and found joy in listening to music, especially during open-air concerts and outdoor gatherings.
Gretchen will be deeply missed by her housemates, Ryan, Jamie, Mark, Bruce, and her faithful dog, Lilly, who provided comfort and companionship throughout her life. She is survived by her dedicated caregivers at SRS and Co-Op, who showered her with love and attention, making her feel cherished in every moment.
In honoring Gretchen's memory, family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday September 10, 2025, from 10:00-11:30AM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Followed by a funeral home service at 11:30AM. Following the service, a burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Buzzards Bay, MA, where Gretchen will rest peacefully.
Gretchen's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, as we remember her sweetness, occasional saltiness, and the warmth she brought to our lives. We ask that you keep her memory alive through your stories and shared experiences, celebrating the light she brought to our world.
