Hazel Mary (Goody) Kerr, age 100, wife of the late Howard Kerr, passed away Tuesday February 15, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. Born on Thursday March 24, 1921, in Randolph, MA, she was the daughter of the late George and Abbie (Harris) Goody. Hazel grew up in Randolph, and was a 1938 graduate of Stetson High School. Following high school she went to work at the Barbour Welt in Brockton, where she and Howard met. They were married in 1943 in Smyrna, TN, where Howard was stationed in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Together they settled in Pembroke, where they raised their family. Hazel was first and foremost a homemaker but also ran the H.W. Kerr Paint Store, and then she managed a Health Spa. A lifelong member of the Avon Baptist Church, Hazel loved bowling, golfing, music, family reunions, her beloved Red Sox, going to Maine every summer and traveling. But most of all she loved being with her family. She was always there for everyone, in happy times and sad. Hazel is survived by her children Marilyn Thomson and her husband Wayne of Brockton, Douglas Kerr of Bluffton, SC, and Deb Bailey of Middleboro, her grandchildren Jason Thomson and his wife Christine, Heather Arrighi, Lynn McGowan and her husband Mike, Douglas Kerr, Jr., Justin Kerr, Sarah Rush, Jeffrey Bailey and is wife Beth, and Ryan Bailey and his wife Megan, great grandchildren Samantha Thomson, Brendan and Gabrianna Arrighi, Eli McGowan, Hazel, Max, Grey, and Finn Bailey. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly, and Anne Hurley, who Hazel considered a daughter. Hazel was predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Cederholm, Ruby Leitch, Irene Tuttle, Erma Hall, brother George E. Goody, grandson Robert Arrighi, and her best friend, Muriel Driscoll. Hazel’s family would like to thank the staff of the Seth Mann 2nd Home for Women in Randolph, each one an angel, for their loving care of Hazel for the last 8 years, also the Old Colony Hospice for their care and kindness over the last three months, and to Dr. Brian Blanchette and his staff for their care, support, and guidance. A memorial service for Hazel will be held on Saturday March 26, 2022, at 11:00AM at the Avon Baptist Church 119 North Main Street Avon, MA 02332.
