Born on Saturday October 17, 1942, to the late Arthur and America (Alves) Castilloux, Irene was born and raised in Fall River, MA. She grew up very close with her cousins and lived next door to the love of her life Jerry.
Educated in Fall River Public Schools, she would later return to complete her education at Bristol Community College. On June 15, 1963, she married Jerry; her best friend, life partner and love of her life for 60 years. From that day forward she became a military wife. Together they moved to Bridgewater, MA to raise a family.
Irene was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Raynham, MA.
Irene started her career as a seamstress and machine operator for the Louis Hand Company of Fall River, MA. Her love of children inspired her next career as a school bus driver. Irene worked for the Lopes, Lucini, and First Student Bus Lines over her 35 + years serving the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District. Her career allowed her to touch many families and many generations of students. Her full-time job as a dedicated, compassionate, strong, supportive, loving Mother was her favorite roll.
Irene loved her family deeply and was devoted to their well-being and success. She loved to travel and camp by the ocean with her family. She could cook a wonderful meal, sew almost anything, and find the best sales. She enjoyed a beautiful garden and a spicy romance novel. Irene had a wonderful sense of humor and would light up the room with her beautiful smile. Her favorite times were spent enjoying time with her family and friends.
