Jacqueline J. (Tomkins) Duquette

Jacqueline Joyce (Tomkins) Duquette was born and raised in Brockton, MA where she met her husband Richard Duquette in 1944. They married in July of 1949 and together they raised their five daughters watching their family grow until he passed in January of 1989. Jackie’s life was not an easy one however her faith, optimism, and love for her family remained steadfast through it all. One of her pearls of wisdom was. “if you can be anything, be kind.”

Jacqueline’s stunning blue eyes reflected her kind heart and compassionate soul. She effortlessly extended love and kindness to all around her making them feel seen and valued. Her words of wisdom offered comfort and hope in times of struggle, strength in times of despair, and clarity in times of uncertainty. Even in her own moments of struggle, she radiated an inner strength that reminded others they, too, could persevere through hardship. She taught us to appreciate the little things in life. The beauty of flowers, a good cup of coffee, time spent together reminiscing.

Her last days mirrored her life, surrounded by family, bringing comfort with her words. Sharing, “I love my family. I have had a wonderful life. I live on through all of you and will be watching over everyone. Look for me in the garden, in the sky. You will know it is me.” Reminding us that those who have gone before us will come to take us home, like a gentle hand reaching out through the veil, guiding us toward eternal peace.

                She joins her husband Richard Duquette, her infant children Richard and June Duquette, her mother Edythe Cousens, father Harry Tompkins, sister Bette Vagen, brother Harry Tompkins, granddaughter Angel (White) Silva, grandson Jarret Widdop, and countless extended family members and friends she met along her ninety-three-year journey.

                Jaqueline/Jackie/mom/nan/nana lala leaves behind generations of grateful family members. Her five daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Butch Langton, Jackalyn and Joseph White, Janice and the late Peter Hill, Jayne and Michael Baker, Janeen and Eric Kearns, and Neil O’Connor. Her grandchildren Richard Langton and his wife Cera, Neil O’Connor and partner Dolly, Jodi O’Connor and partner Russ, Nancee (Langton) Daylor and her husband David, Lou “Butchie” Langton and his wife Christine, Jennifer (White) Pina and her husband William, Jannell (O’Connor) Cameron and her husband Dan, Evan Baker, Collin Baker, Justin Widdop, Spencer Widdop and John Kearns. Her great grandchildren Courtney (Lunn-O’Connor) Goncalves and her husband Yaneer, Robert Silva, Gwen Calnan, Neil O’Connor, Tyler Langton, Gina (Langton) Belo and her husband Kyle, Kyla-Rae (Lunn ) Power and her husband David, Brooke Daylor, Nathan Lunn, Isabelle Pina, Jordyn Daylor, Domenic Pina, Julia Cameron, Morgane Daylor, and Emily Cameron. Her great-great granddaughters Layla Power and Ella Power. Numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

                Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents at Hannah B. Shaw Home for welcoming her in July 2023 and to Old Colony Hospice for their support during her final days. Private graveside services, facilitated by Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater, MA, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband Richard, son Richard, and daughter June.

Her daughters kindly request that, in her memory, a rose be planted or gifted to a loved one. This thoughtful gesture is meant to spread kindness and love, symbolizing enduring affection and honoring her cherished admiration for this beloved flower.
