On July 9, 2026, James J. Donahue, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Carver, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 13, 1955, in Stoughton, Massachusetts, James was the son of the late John F. Donahue and Josephine (DePaul) Donahue.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Donahue, with whom he shared a bond that enriched both their lives for nearly twenty-one years. He leaves behind eight cherished children and fifteen beloved grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride. He is also survived by his sister, Patti, and her husband, Arthur Doherty, as well as his brother, John Donahue Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Donahue, and his sweet niece, Alicia M. Donahue.
A proud graduate of Stoughton High School and Fisher College, James was a licensed electrician and a licensed real estate broker, but he will be fondly remembered for his dedication to his role as a Teamster in Local 25 Boston. Over the years, he worked as an entertainment transpo driver, operating large commercial vehicles for esteemed companies, including Marr Rigging, Stop & Shop, Hallamore, and St. Johnsbury. James also served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that reflected his unwavering sense of duty and resilience.
Much admired by friends and family, James embodied a quiet determination coupled with a profound appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He was a man of few words, yet his voice resonated warmth, wisdom, and humor. A devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, James found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. From early morning tea and donuts by the beach to lively Sunday dinners, the moments they shared became treasured memories woven into the fabric of their lives.
As "PAPA" to his grandchildren, he delighted in their company, whether it was dressing up as Santa, enjoying ice cream outings, attending games, or engaging in spirited games of tic-tac-toe. They could always count on PAPA to fix any special toy or parts of the toy. James was also a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, often found on his Harley alongside friends reveling in the camaraderie and freedom of the open road. The laughter shared over meals with his wife, Patti, John, and Artie were cherished highlights of his life.
James will be greatly missed and held forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
