Jean Mackey Pasqualucci

Jean Mackey Pasqualucci, 77, of Acushnet, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, after a long period of illness.

Jean was born on May 2, 1948, to the late Marguerite and Milton Mackey in North Bennington, VT, where she and her four sisters Linda, Carole, Nancy, and Laura were raised. After graduating from North Bennington High School in 1966, she moved to Boston to study and work in the secretarial field for several years, enjoying the city lifestyle as well as extensive travel in Europe. She lived out the rest of her life in Massachusetts in several towns, including Weston, Ashburnham, Falmouth, and Acushnet. In 1977 she married Santo P. Pasqualucci and later became mother to three daughters, Erica, Kristen, and Amy. Jean's greatest joy and purpose in life was motherhood, and she also enjoyed a passion for classical music, nature, and animals. She was a talented lifelong pianist and passed on her musical affinity to her children. Deeply connected to nature, she was an avid gardener and lover of flowers, her favorite season being spring. While she always had a house full of beloved pets, especially cats and German Shepherds, later in life she turned her passion for animals into a business. With great determination and focus, she became an entrepreneur and built Cranberry Hill Cattery from scratch in Acushnet, MA. She turned an uncommon concept of cat boarding into a thriving business, where her customers cherished her for her attention to detail and her devotion to all of her cat "guests" as if they were her own pets. Jean successfully ran her business until recently when illness required her to step back at age 77.

Though a very private person, Jean left an impact on nearly everyone she met. Her genuine kindness, honesty, humility, and respect for others was powerfully felt by those who knew her. She saw God in all creatures and showed dignity to everyone, especially those who were often marginalized or forgotten by society. Those close to her also got to know her unabashedly funny and playful side, wicked jokes, vast knowledge and love of birds, and passion for fast cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. In 2021, Jean's life took on a whole new level of meaning when she became a grandmother to her only grandchild, Cora. As devoted as a grandmother as she was as a mother, she fully relished the role of "Grammy Jean" and Cora truly was the "light of her life" as she thereafter faced a long period of illness. Jean was an example of quiet strength, tenacity, and an open heart. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dignity is felt and carried on by her daughters and granddaughter with honor.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Marguerite and Milton Mackey, and her sister, Laura Steverman. She is survived by her sisters, Linda Angelico, Carole Wallace, and Nancy Kingsbury, her former husband Santo Pasqualucci, her three daughters Erica Pasqualucci, Kristen Pasqualucci, and Amy Pasqualucci with husband Bill Costanza, and granddaughter Cora.

The Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, May 17th from 4:00-6:00PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home at 280 Bedford St, Lakeville, MA.
