Joanna Kelley left this world on Monday, November 27th, surrounded by the warmth of her home in Lakeville, Massachusetts. Johanna faced a lengthy illness with incredible strength and grace, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Joanna, originally hailing from East Boston, Massachusetts, shared a life filled with love and companionship alongside her devoted husband of 50 years, Billy. Before settling in Lakeville, she and Billy created cherished memories in Melrose, forming a home filled with laughter, joy, and the bond of a lifelong partnership.
Born to the late Julius and Lucy DeAngelis, Joanna's roots ran deep, and her family meant the world to her. She is survived by her loving husband, William J. Kelley, her sister Dorothy Fulginiti, nieces Doreen Thew and her husband Kevin and Karen Letourneau and her husband Michael, as well as great nieces Christine Thew, Jennifer Thew, Stacey Letourneau, and great nephew Michael Letourneau, Jr. The joy and love she brought to their lives will be a lasting legacy, a testament to the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone she knew.
Joanna's compassionate spirit extended beyond her human family, as she had a profound love for animals. She will be fondly remembered for her caring nature and will be reunited with her beloved dogs, Alby and Blue, in heaven. Among those left to mourn her passing is her great great dog niece, Greta, who brought immeasurable joy and comfort to Joanna's life.
As we grieve her physical absence, let us find solace in the knowledge that she has found peace and rest. Joanna's legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will forever echo in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. May she find eternal joy in the company of her loving family and cherished pets in the embrace of heaven.
A private family service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Joanna will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Buzzards Bay, MA 02542.
