Joanne M. (Peabody) Furlan

Joanne M. Furlan, age 81, wife of the late Frank J. Furlan and the late Jimmie D. Jarrett, passed away Saturday October 23, 2021, at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA, following a lengthy illness. Born in Taunton, MA, on Friday February 23, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Peabody and the late Helen Marie (Zion) Peabody Dixon. Joanne grew up in Bridgewater, MA, and graduated from Bridgewater High School and Boston School of Cosmetology and Hairdressing. She lived and raised her family in Middleboro, MA. She loved working at “The Work Basket” in downtown Middleboro as she enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and her family. She was otherwise mostly self-employed throughout her life, with the exception of teaching chair caning at the Middleboro High School Night School Program, working as the Front Desk Receptionist for The American Lung Association of Southeastern Massachusetts and she also worked for the Brockton Enterprise for many years. Joanne loved anything Elvis and had a passion for music. She enjoyed raising dairy goats and many other farm animals with her children, as well as writing, penning letters to her friends, drawing, gardening and reading. She believed in the Christian faith and has gone home to be with her Lord. Joanne is survived by her son Jeffrey L. Jarrett and his wife Nancy, daughter Jeanne M. (Jarrett) Richardi, son Frank J. Furlan, Jr. and his wife Sheryl, brother Thomas J. Dixon and his wife Bette, sisters Jennifer Peabody, Allison Peabody-Loughren and her partner Dave, Melissa Peabody Isom, and Julianne Peabody-Crowley and her husband Joe, grandchildren Brendon Jarrett and his wife Sarah, Christopher Jarrett, Tyler Jarrett and his wife Cassidy, and Joseph Jarrett, great grandchildren Logan, Ariel, and Jackson, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joanne was predeceased by her beloved sister Debra Peabody and son-in-law James E. Richardi, Jr. A private graveside service for Joanne will be held at Titicut Parish Cemetery in Middleboro, MA.
