John Faidell Obituary

John “Bud” Faidell, age 66, husband of the late Susan L. Faidell (the love of his life), passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Born on Friday, April 16, 1954 in Raynham, MA, he was the son of the late John J. and Gabrielle (Gousie) Faidell. Bud graduated from Bridgewater-Raynham High School, class of 1972 and went on to earn his associates degree from the New England Institute, N.E.I. which joined with Mount Ida College in Newton, MA in 1992. Bud was one of a group of students known as the Pioneer Class, to recognize the first class of students to attend and graduate from the now joined schools.

Bud has been a dedicated and devoted funeral service practitioner for over 30 years.  For the past 13 years, John has lived in Lakeville where he owned and operated the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home. Bud was a member of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association and served on the Board of Directors for six years. He served as chair of the Cape Cod Community College Funeral Service Advisory Board was “a cornerstone of both our [CCCC] embalming clinical and funeral directing practicum, providing students unwavering guidance as a preceptor as they entered the funeral industry.”

Bud enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, vacationing in Florida, cruises and would visit Disney World any time he was able to. Bud could give you directions to anywhere on the East Coast.  He could fix anything with a bit of duct tape and a metal coat hanger and would scoff at spending “good money” on any other solution.  He would drop everything with a moment's notice to help you - whether he just met you, or he’d known you all his life. Bud would put the needs of everyone else ahead of his own including in his days in the ICU when “[he] didn’t want to bother the nurses - they have other patients to worry about.”

Bud is survived by his two children, Timothy J. Faidell Sr. and his wife, Amanda (Maddigan) Faidell, and Brian R. Faidell and his partner, Carmen Vetere. Proud grandfather of Timothy J. "TJ" Faidell, Jr. and Dylan K. Faidell. In addition to his children and grandchildren Bud will be missed deeply by his good friends and business partner Todd M. Cheney, his wife Karyn and their two children Aubrey E. and Owen Z. Cheney, as well as his many extended family members, friends, and members of the community he lived in and served.

The family has set up the John “Bud” Faidell Memorial Scholarship fund and would kindly request donations in lieu of flowers to help support those entering the funeral services profession.  Visit Faidell.com for information and to celebrate the life and legacy of Bud. Visitation for John “Bud” Faidell will be held on Sunday February 28, 2021 from 4:00-7:00pm. A private funeral for the family will be held on Monday March 1, 2021. Bud will be laid to rest with his late wife Susan at Sampson Cemetery in Lakeville, MA.
