Karen Jean (Bennett) Medas, 66, of Middleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with lupus leading to kidney failure. Born on April 17, 1959, in Middleboro, Karen spent her life deeply connected to the community where she was raised and educated.
Karen attended Middleboro schools before embarking on a diverse career that showcased her dedication and work ethic. She worked as a waitress, store clerk, and gas station manager, roles through which she touched the lives of many with her warm personality and unwavering determination. In addition to her professional endeavors, Karen served her country as a nurse in the United States Army Reserves-a testament to her strength and commitment to helping others.
Karen shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, David W. Medas. Together they built a loving family that brought immense joy to her life. She is survived by their children; Tara Medas of Maine; Michael Medas of Massachusetts, and Heather (Medas) Chabin and her husband Andrew of Pennsylvania. Karen was also a proud grandmother to AJ and Joel Chabin, who brought light into her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley Bennett and Phyllis Childs, as well as her sister Diane Gross. Karen is also survived by her brothers Richard Bennett and his wife Ann, David Bennett and his wife Sheila, John Bennett and his wife Sue, Kevin Bennett and his wife Yami (Vargas) Bennett, and Stanley Bennett and his wife Susan. Her in-laws include Richard and Gerri Medas, Robert Medas, Peter and Wendy Medas, and Elaina Laura. Karen was also loved by a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Karen found joy in simple pleasures such as reading, playing games, and spending time in nature. Her contagious laugh could brighten any room, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to share in her company.
May Karen's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Visitation for Karen will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347, followed by a funeral home service at 12:00PM. Karen will be laid to rest at Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton, MA
