Kathleen “Kathy” McKenna, age 75, of Lakeville, MA, passed away on Wednesday June 7, 2023, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, following a brief illness. Born in Taunton, MA, on Friday, August 8, 1947, Kathy was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emily (Maleski) McKenna. She is survived by her brother Tim McKenna and his wife Phyllis, sister Rosie McKenna, nieces, Meghan McKenna, Laura McKenna and her husband Dan Worthing, and Katie Fleischer and her husband Phil, great niece Lilly Fleischer, great nephew Archie Fleischer, and numerous best friends and neighbors. Kathy was predeceased by her sister Jan McGarry.
Kathy graduated from Bishop Cassidy High School. She continued her education at Bridgewater State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree and earned her master’s degree from Suffolk University. Kathy retired as a Special Needs Physical Education Teacher from the Taunton Public Schools. She volunteered her time as a Special Olympics Coach, and at the Lakeville Council on Aging. An avid Boston sports fan and golfer, Kathy also enjoyed bowling, reading, being with family, and was a devout Catholic.
A funeral mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday June 20, 2023, at 10:00AM at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Road, East Freetown, MA 02717. An hour of visitation will be held from 9:00 -9:45AM, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347, prior to the funeral mass. Kathy will be laid to rest with her parents at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton, MA.
